I know you would have checked Farringdon locksmith, but the little slider that the cam moves back is slid all the way back, and not just part way? Looks like the problem I have in the picture. The handles are down can get them up again but just slip.
So where would be the best place to drill? Just thinking if it is this problem then why won't the bolt go back when i try to push it in? Snap the cylinder, push handles back up and the bent screwdriver in through the euro hole to push up the sliders. The bolt won’t go back until the sliders are up. This is the only lock case I don't trust badly need a modification. When you fit these lock cases make sure the hook/deadbolts are not too tight I think you hit the nail on the head. The deadbolts were stiff when fitted. Adjusted the keeps to ease up locking but I think the door probably dropped again. I think I might try to convince then to have the new GU style with the 4 rollers. New GU is the best option, don't trust these cases I pay the extra and use the Yale copy case. No problems.
Farringdon locksmith workshop have found that the Yale door master series will cover up most old 35/92 mechanism. It's easy to fit too. Not sure about cost price though. I’m on about the Yale doormaster copy cases James. They are about £8 a piece dearer than the other GU copy cases out there but a helluva lot better quality. Personally I aren’t a great fan of the Doormaster, the platform itself is plagued with gearbox issues. Do you mean that Yale make a copy of the Gu cases? Yes and they do a Mila and Lockmaster. So, what do you think of the versa multifit mpl? Is it any good? After seeing the new GU fail by hanging on the handle I will stick with the old ones where possible. Have to be honest, I can only recall one new GU I have changed in 7 years so I would say they must be pretty good? new style gu, there's a post somewhere of the first one I came across, some plastic backed version.
This is a customer's broken Fullex gearbox. It seems the bottom follower was removed either at manufacturing or at fitting and his handles have 122mm screw centres to fit where the follower was. I can't find a fullex that would fit these handles unless I removed the bottom follower as above but a) I don't know how to do that and b) I don't know if that was the reason the gearbox failed in the first place. This one is less than 3 years old. The obvious solution is to replace the handles but he's kicking up a fuss about that - apparently he paid a lot for them Shocked. Any suggestions please? The problem we at the Farringdon locksmith work shop have found is we can't find a Fullex lockcase to fit the handles which have 122mm screw centres. |
