Went to one in the Hampstead locksmith shop area a few years back on a communal door. Previous locksmith / handyman had master keyed the lock so the flat owners individual front door key which was a mixture of at least five different lock brands including Yale, Union and Euro type would also open the front door.
That lock was lovely and smooth and a bit light on parts. Good call on the filing as well. I was worried it might get more complicated if the detainers didn't pass muster. I found even new lever packs and keys can be iffy, always need a bit of fettling. The 3R35's are handed, so if replacing make sure you get the correct hand. Sounds more like either a worn curtain as you think, or worn case around the curtain. I would throw a new curtain in (same as the 110 and will fit the 3R35 - old and new) and see how that feels. If it's the case that's slightly worn, then as mentioned by just file the gates slightly to accept the stump easier. One has seen that elsewhere too, not just widening the gate a little! I've even seen an old 2 lever mdl with one lever minus a fence (the other of course has to be a high lift, so a blank skeletoned to pass the sash wards, presumably would open it.
Hi I’ve been asked to open a sitex door on warrants with 2 non curtained deadlocks they have walked away from it 2 times already cause couldn't get in, generally they are secure fast locks on the sitex up my way which I would decode but these obviously aren't, would normally open with wires just wondering if anyone knows what they may be so I know what I'm up against. That would of been my first thing I'd try over lifting can't see why it's been walked away from twice by 2 different companies and had to call out the Hampstead locksmith. The newer ones are black with a laminated bolt. Same lever pack though. It is handy when you have 200 numbered keys. Not handy if the engineers haven't scratched the key number on the door. Cost me £50 to borrow a set from a Sitex Orbis engineer for a weekend. Worth every penny. I get a "Sitex Run" around once a month where other warrant guys have knocked jobs back. 8 to 15 jobs, meter removals so no pissing around. In the house by 1pm latest.
Very good money in that. No problem mate as ya say definitely worth having, I'm going to pop and have a look at job it's a empty pub not far from me so I'll go see what the crack is, want to get in now I no its been walked away from twice. Not 100% sure the sitex are normally green up here like this one is the is a 5l Willenhall like u said, to be honest some of the other door ways are boarded up with sitex solid panels but there are fixed externally with star head frame fixings so I'll get in one way or another. Might be different to what's down here in the Hampstead locksmith area. It’s either brown Sitex Orbis doors with Willenhall locks or Grey VPS doors with securefast locks. As long as its Willenhall as said they overlift easily so I'd go with that. |
