I got mine at 24 hour locksmith Kings Cross key cutting shop twice last night in about 15mins but. That was after I'd been trying with my CB lock pick unsuccessfully for about an hour and a half. Still it's a start! I didn't think the ICL pick was rated as very good, but I've changed my opinion now.
The few locks I have I find the ICL doesn’t fit read it’s the stem end that’s 2 big was wondering if u guys think its ok to file it down a little? Safe to file the sides just a little, but normally a good push will get it into the lock. It's the same with a lot of other locks, but as the curtains are 'soft' it's not normally a problem? just having a play with a 3 lever union warded mortice ? What is the best technique for picking these is it an over lifter or the 2 in 1 ? I’ve been trying the 2 in 1 and I can’t get in far enough with the ward ? or is there another way to do these. I use wires. Just bits of coat hanger on these actually. Just find the binding lever, and see to them one at a time. However, there is something unusual to watch out for, with Union 3-Levers. Wink they will overlift though. There's a video somewhere of me opening one.
Have a go with 2 and 3 lever try out keys normally the most difficult thing with these locks is getting past the wards. Try out key usually work, but they usually over-lift very well. Make the up-stand key way height and hook depth the depth of the lock. Try out keys from the emergency 24 Hour Locksmith Kings Cross key cutting service are nice and quick when they work but if you have trouble the good old wires always work. Slightly off topic for a moment, but has anyone else found that the try-outs are too wide to fit in a lot of locks and turn? I've got a 3-lever Era that I can't get my try-outs in, and come across this problem often. Not seen that so. Try out keys are good but will not work here as the lock has warding. Yes I’ve found that but only on some deadlocks, all the sash locks I’ve tried they go in ok I use wires on these to get around the warding. Good tension on as well and then just look for the binding levers.
Remember as well that Union like to put the odd zero lift lever in their locks! I got caught on one of these when i first started, so i filed the warding out and used try out keys well I’ve had the front off and its full of gunge and the spacers are full of crap as well but I don’t want to clean it because I wouldn’t be able to clean it if it was in a door. They can get like that. If need be a good old squirt of WD or GT to free things up a little as this you could do on a door. Ok which tension tool would you say is the best of over lifting I have these or would you recommend any other, as in march I will be up at my nearest 24 Hour Locksmith Kings Cross key cutting shop and maybe buy some more. |
