Just wondering Lewisham locksmith boys if you knew about whether you can store electrical goods in an underfloor safe. Got to supply and fit a few for car dealer who wants to store remotes in them.
Ask manufacturer should be fine if water tight lid. I would favour a secure key cabinet. It’s just I read somewhere that a lot of manufactures don't have electronic keep pad entry on underfloor safes because something can damage them. Just use a keyed or Combi underfloor safe, like a Churchill. Floor safes do come with key com and electric lock. But if floor is going to get wet then don't use electric. Trust me if a floor safe goes wrong and you fitted it they will ask you to open it. And they are a pain with re lockers. Most of the time a standard 2 in 1 will do the job, or you could just get the longer safe 2 in 1's. The last floor safe I opened I used the Chubb Battleship 2 in 1. The legs were a perfect size! A bit tight to the lid with the hands but done the job. Got a small electronic safe to open on Thursday, just the cheap digital type with keypad on the right, wheel on the left and key override in the middle. The safe is bolted to the bottom of a wardrobe.
The customer said that when he puts the code in the light turns green suggesting the batteries are working ok but the wheel won't pull the bolts back. The only time I've opened these safes is when batteries are flat so not sure what to do when the batteries are ok but it still won't open. Any ideas Lewisham locksmith?. Solenoid plunger stuck up and not dropping down when combination entered? maybe a few whacks on top with mallet may unjam it or open it or is it a different type of safe to what I am thinking of? On one I opened, picking it, and turning the plug just depresses the solenoid, which in theory should allow the wheel to turn and withdraw the bolts. However the wheel can come loose as it's only held on to the bolt-withdrawer with a hex-head bolt which can work loose. If the bolt is loose the wheel will just turn and do nothing. You can usually edge the bolts back through the gap a little at a time, but the loose thing is something to bear in mind.
Don't forget too, that if the batteries are ever dead (and on the inside), it's worth heating them up using a hair-dryer, which may be enough to rejuvenate them just to get the door open. Went to have a look at the safe today. The guy was showing me the problem and I noticed that when he put the code in the green light came on and within about a second turned red by the time he grabbed the opening handle. So to open all Lewisham locksmith lads did was a hand on the opening handle and using the other hand put the code in and turned the handle immediately whilst the light was still green so a dead easy opening. |
