Locksmith Aldgate first ever BS Lock experience, was with a Union 2134. Back then, she had never used a Curtain Pick in her life, and had it open within 20 minutes. Since then, she's managed to pick every 2134 I have and I've got a fair few within 10 minutes every time.
Apart from that pig of a Union, that was all gunged up that we brought along to the last meeting, and which she has picked a few times, but took a bit longer than 10 mins. It looks like we all agree that this a good tool. I am however very interested on comment on another post that this can open a fortress? I don’t have a fortress decoder, and certainly am not looking to curtain pick one on a warrant, so if anyone could lead me to a post on how to use it on a fortress i would be very grateful. That was a long time ago when I was trying to get more locks out of 1 decoder. Something about getting a read and bumping up the pins twice. I phoned this guy earlier to chat about a purchase. He seem nice enough, and he was claiming that this Asec/Legge decoder also opens the Chubb, Union, Yale locks too. Can anybody confirm this?? Has anybody ever dealt with this decoder? I’m thinking of investing but would like a tad more guidance.
The locksmith Aldgate team have been down to the meetings before. You will need to buy two decoders one for the Assec and the other for the Union/Chubb, same type of system/tool but obviously different levers for the Assec snd then the union/chubb. The union Chubbs are an easier lock to pick I find and will overlift too sometimes. The Assec I don't come across much at all but I think a lot of locksmiths including myself struggle to pick them. Both SV and E3 kits are great tools, the plastercine reading keys and the actual readings you get will be the same with both kits but personally E3's make up key is better in my opinion as there is no chance whatsoever of the pins falling out when you turn the key upside down. Due to the fact it doesn't use pins. With the ERA decoders, is there not a generic decoder for ERA range? Or do the Vectis, fortress, invincible etc. All have different ones?
Surely ERA must produce some kind of generic decoder you need the different decoders for different locks (see below), but I say with experience, do not rush out and buy them all as you just won’t use them on real, rainy, winter, quick entry needed jobs. Have a really good look into what you want and what tools have the best real ease of use. Lock manufacturers like ERA don't make decoders, it wouldn't be in their interest to make tools that will open their locks. They are constantly trying to make locks that are more secure and harder to open. And locksmiths are constantly trying to find new ways of NDE opening them. A drill will open any mortice lock you are ever likely to come across, it all depends how much damage you locksmith Aldgate lads want to cause. |
