Can any body at the find a local locksmith E10 shop give me a tip on house lock out picking of the MILA EVO. We’re getting a lot of these around here. I had one in the vice and it will pick to 5 degrees and the trap pins kick in. I stripped it down in the end to have a good look at what we're dealing with, there's a row of 4 spool trap pins either side of the main pins. Can these be defeated?
I’ve watched the 2 videos on here and probably sound stupid but can’t get my head around picking these, I find other dimple picking fairly easy but it’s getting my head round the magnetic pin that’s bugging me, I haven’t come across one yet and I’m hoping to get one tomorrow to try and crack.is it worth it or is it acceptable when come across one on a job to say sod it and pull n drill? I’m sure some of the abs experts will correct me here but unless you pick up that magnetic pin straight off you aren't going to open it. The few I’ve done I put the magnet in over the pinstack before moving any other pins. You know if it’s working as you feel the plug inching, if you haven't got the magnetic pin set you get nothing.
I know I’m missing something. Went to a concern for safety the other day. Standard euro profile Sterling lock. Got the old EPG and circular out, few seconds later and its turning. Had to change the tension wrench at 180* as had to depress the two pins to allow the full 360* Anyways the bolt didn’t retract. Did this 4 times in a row and did not retract it. Long story short got in and it was a thumb turn. Am I missing something or do i need to do something extra to engage the cam whilst picking these? Any help would be appreciated from you boys at the lock change locksmith E10 branch. You will need to push the little spring loaded bar into the cam at the same time. This is usually done by the tip of the key when your operating the lock with the correct key. If you push a pick all the way to the back of the plug gently you will feel it. When you have picked the plug you can use a filled down key which will go over the top of the top pins and press the spring loaded bar in. You can also do it with the handle of a tension wrench.
Sounds like a screw in type lock, but some pictures would help if you can get them. Or Like has been said , it sounds like a screw in cylinder , held in place with a small grub screw. Which can be turned with grips and grub screw that will break and can be replaced Aldridges stock them.....if you needed to. Don't know why you would need to do that though if the door is open, look for a tiny grub screw behind faceplate sometimes there is a sacrificial ali strip hitting the screws to the lock. They can be a very small gauge ie no 4, and hidden in the draught excluder brush, so comb through slowly and look, and are normally offset at about 150mm or 6 inch in old money, hope this helps cheers from all at the locksmith E10 office. |
