Locksmith East Ham tried to rake it to false set several times without any luck. The thing here is using SPP and controlling a rather light tension throughout the process. This lock is indeed well made and has high tolerances.
I got one off ebay about a week ago, it picked pretty easy and same with bumping pretty easy, the problem I found was, mine had 4 trap pins at the back of the plug 2 either side and 2 at the front 1 either side, if you didn’t use the correct key it activated the trap pins once you moved the plug past 5 or 7 o’clock and once the trap pins were set it was stuck solid. I’m pretty sure they don’t have trap pins... the only lock i know with proper trap pins is the mila evolution. I’ve been trying my new Yale bs all day and having no joy. Don’t get time to practice anymore so this is way out of my league now/decent lock for sure. If you want some nightmare locks to play with which has trap pins you want the abc cylinders or the arrone + euro you have to pick them 4 times one as norm ie 12oclock then 1 o’clock then 25 past then 25 to then11 great fun been playing with then for a bit now as rick said once they fire at 1oclock if you can’t pick them back the key won’t even go in and new lock required picked these a few times on warrants.
The Yale BS doesn’t have trap pins, unless there are some out there that they made that I have never seen? I find these pick easy enough with a standard downward manual pick gun. I just slightly tilt the blade toward the back, then front as I use it with just very light tension. Locksmith East Ham have bumped picked and snapped some when snapping them it takes 3 pins away and a anti drill pin then you can hook another pin out down to picking 2 pins ok, so how do these type of snappers deal with the reinforced bridges these cylinders have? I have seen pics of a council composite door that had a Yale ktm fitted, a local joe had tried to snap it from the inside which resulted in 12 inch split down the edge of the door. I don’t believe any snapper bar can deal with these types of cylinders.
I had to open an EVVA 3KS recently and had to drill the hull straight thru to the reinforced bar, cut the protection and then snap it. Risky business attempting to snap a cylinder with the reinforced spine. You are risking damaging the mechanism and the door, could be pricey if it goes tits up. Some of the older upvc doors are far too flimsy they'd fall to bits. My main concern with these types of cylinders is that even when you have the door open and are just missing keys to remove cylinder it’s going to make a simple lock change so much more difficult. It would be nice if they had designed these locks to be user friendly dont you think over at the locksmith East Ham, as well as secure. |
