So locksmith Kingston Upon Thames regarding the difficult beading that you are referring too, there is a tool for removing these with more ease (not easy but definitely easier).
The profile extruders name will come to me (as soon as I press send probably) and you will ruin the beads if you do not do as you say, and remove by pulling from the glass face and fold the bead outwards. These beads are always over scribed, to my knowledge (not mitred) and therefore if you start on a bead that lays over the other two (Usually the vertical beads, or longest if similar size on a small unit) and start right at one end, then they will remove more easily. Just remember to replace in the reverse manner and they are a doddle. Only real issue is a stiff bead when up a ladder (as they are of course externally beaded). When it suddenly goes, you need to hold on. I have tried to attach a library picture of the tool that is made from spring steel but think image file is too large? Sorry guys. Will try to remember to take another picture and upload it later. I did have a chap make some of these once, as had a few local pals who wanted them. If there are enough people want one, I will gladly see if he will do a few more. Think they were about £15 each and he wanted to make 10 off as a minimum. There were five of us and we all had two each.
Would be upset if I lost my one and only! I purchased mine from locksmith Kingston Upon Thames about 10yr ago. I never looked further for a better tool as I assumed that as they had been working on pvc windows, repairing and glass replacement, for over 10yrs and prior to that he worked in a pvc manufacturing outfit that he knew his trade. The angled spring steel tool will be a curtain wall debeading tool for removing faceplates of aluminium glazing structures like office blocks, I use a heavier 10 inch one has a multitude of uses , removes wooden beading. Scrapes putty off like a flat pry bar lifts doors opens upvc doors on a stuck latch, gets behind dgus stuck in with old tape for a bit leverage and a canny weapon if needed that and my old spring turning hook tool for warwick sashes are my most used kit they get used for glazing and lock jobs, can stir my tea and hook tea bag out as well.
Just had a mooch on'tinternet and found somebody who reckons that type of beading is about 20 year old by a company called Alpine double glazing if that rings any bells. Can’t get the photo uploaded. I have tried reducing the size as image too large error keeps coming up. If anyone wants a pic emailing, let me know yr email address. Or if someone wants it emailed and they are more savvy than me to upload it on the forum, the cool by me. Alpine probably used it. Think it might be Sheerframe that extruded the profile. My tool doesn't look like the others. Profile sheerframe approx. 20 years old made by LB Plastics. The above locksmith Kingston Upon Thames is the proper kit for removing beads. |
