I have a question for you at the locksmith Muswell Hill I read mxs 1 was key blank is there an alternative sks do the msx-1 key blank for them, NW keys do the Jma mxs-1 maxus t10 cylinder key I had exactly the same thing last week, have only ever fitted a couple but appears although it’s an open profile even big locksmiths aren’t stocking the blank yet.
I ordered a load last year from sks when they were doing a deal on them. Got round to using one a few weeks backs to find that the key wouldn't go into the cylinder on one end. It was as if the first pin was uber shagged. Of course, because I had had the lock for quite some time, sks refused to refund me. Can understand why, but a bit peed off. I don't or won’t use them anymore. Had a strange one today called to a residential block
All flats fitted with Yale titans night latch tenant has. Key and would Not open door first thought was snub. Went through letter box to find push button snub out and latch. Would not lift then tried a feel around and latch opened I then took night latch apart and cylinder both fine and working correctly Any ideas? As this is a regular and wondering if this is a sign of something to come. Locksmith Muswell Hill said if it's a Yale 65 or 66 (deadbolts on these, rather than a latch), then the only obvious thing I can think of is that the deadbolt is under too much pressure because the Keep has been badly fitted. If this is the case, the key may struggle to draw the bolt back. Always worth a try to fire some GT85 into the gap and rock the door. Probably too much pressure on the bolt. The Yale Titan nightlatch used what is now named as the No.1 nightlatch, the internal snib button doesn't deadlock the bolt, it only holds it back. The local locksmith near me said there is a fault on these that stops the latchbolt from being retracted with the key when the deadlocking antithrust snib is depressed. Customer has a Federal 730 Padlock (I didn't supply this), which is used to secure a gate, and there are 40 keys in existence to this. He now requires a second one, keyed alike to the first one.
I'm told the key is a 'restricted' profile, and he will let me borrow it at some point, so that I can rekey the new padlock to the existing keys. My question is, is there only one profile of 'restricted' locksmith security key for the Federal 730? I'd hate to order one, only to find out there is more than one profile. Is that an American brand? Maybe try lp101 they might know a bit more about that Not sure really. I've got a feeling that Draper make a very similar padlock, so not sure where it originates from. If all else fails, I'll order a 'restricted' version from the locksmith Muswell Hill, and keep my fingers crossed. |
