Hi locksmith New Cross, hope you’re all doing well. I got a call to see if I could open a safe, it was a small round wall safe. With the makers name rondo, with a Sticker on it saying Swiss made. On the front of the lock it has a anti drill Spinning disk. I didn't know how to go about picking this.
The lady has never had A key for this, or the owner before her! She would like to get the lock changed or RE keyed. Have any of you guys any clue how to go about open this? A local bar gave me a call the other day as their lock had jammed. Euro in a sash lock mech. Steel door. Managed to sort that out and then they said I could have a go at their safe which sits in a corner and is used to tie the door open when it's sunny. Fat chance at present. There's no money in it for me but I've never had a go at a safe before and they don't really care about it one way or the other. So no pressure and I can make a project of it while working up a thirst. There is no key and it's just been sat there for at least ten years as it was in there when they got the place. You might find its a Chubb with a 6k75 lock on there and the curtain has spun. No my mistake. Chubb Stafford. 6k202 lock. Old one easy enough to pick but newer one can be a pig. Not sure. I only noticed that when I checked the photos. Will have to have a better look with more light. Locksmith New Cross did a quick google and confirmed it. Chubb Stafford. I'm guessing by the state of it that the 'old' one is what we're looking at. Yes Chubb 6k202 lock. If old lock no anti picks. Could just punch bolt back. Don't think it's got a live relocker.
Burg Wachter safe will not accept code unless you take out batteries and clear everything, will then accept set code but then gives error codes like communication error, incorrect status query, and system is bypass. Used new batteries tested voltage is fine, checked all connections these are seated ok and seem fine. Check for battery leakage behind the keypad as the corrosion from a battery will eat into a circuit board, as it’s an intermittent error it really sounds to me locksmith New Cross like a connection fault, you won’t see it and the technical term is a "dry joint" caused by corroded batteries or just a fault in manufacturing. Logical terms, the system works when you install the batteries, ie not under load, once you open the safe you get the error, ie under load, basically your putting current through the circuit board and causing the dry joint to fail.
The solution is to re-solder the connections of the plug on the circuit board of the lock, and test, if not you need to remove the keypad and re-solder those solder joints. Solution 2 is to change the keypad and the locks circuit board, you will more than likely have to buy a new lock but just use the board from it and keep the lock as a spare, or keep the old lock as the spare. Will check everything that you have said cost wise if it's going to get expensive to repair the customer is looking to replace it so will have to weigh up options. Stupid electronic systems are sometimes a pain to solve. Had a fault with my welder years ago, turned out to be a break in the printed circuit board, a chap repaired it by soldering a very fine piece of wire across the break, still going strong 15 plus years later, so locksmith New Cross would suggest changing to a key lock. |
