The 3 & 5 Lever Overlift Wires we at the locksmith Northolt make open virtually all the 3 & 5 lever non curtain locks I have used them on. Once you get the knack of them a good wire will also double up as a boly thrower.
I use mine like a key now, insert push up a bit jiggle with tension, open The push up a bit is the key to it, (no pun intended). Same with the jiggler keys, you have to push up a little bit and jiggle. That's really the 'Hook' pick type opening where the wire lift the levers and also lifts into the talon, same principle as a Try Out key. The idea of the LTC overlift wires is to not fall into the talon, in fact avoid it completely. The overlift wire is designed to lift toward the back or front of the levers, then applying tension on and off with a separate wire to allow the stump to find the true gating. The Banham M7 is one of very few locks approved by the HSE for explosive stores. I'd hope they'd spent time testing it, so I'd assume it was actually pretty good. It's nothing special, and apparently they've stopped making it.
Locksmith Northolt do you mean the SC71 lock that looks a bit like a wafer lock key, but is 10 levers? That's the only Ingersoll lock I have ever seen I think. The Ingersoll mortice lock. I have one in the workshop and it's a mare of a lock. Bolt talon is in the centre of 6 levers, three either side and all side sitting like the 3G220! Thankfully this lock is nothing like any of the Ingersolls. It's got a chunky bolt, no hard plate and the levers resemble the Guardian 5050 levers. The Ingersoll lock sounds interesting, I've only seen safe locks with the talon in the middle. I've got a couple of the ingerolls I'll see if I can upload an internal picture.
I don t know anyone who's picked them ,I'm sure there is though ,I’m sure I’ve seen a pick for one before somewhere with a middle tension and lever lift either side of talon. Guess it would be called a three-in-one pick? Don't suppose anyone has one for sale? There is a pick for them, and funny enough I think it is referred to as a 3in1. I seem to remember some of those strange double bitted multi-turn locks used in Italy are similar, the bolt is symmetrical. You can pick past the tang on the end of some curtain picks though, right locksmith Northolt? |
