Only other way locksmith Southfields, which is what I would have done without reading about it is to remove handle to see what was going on with the spindle.
I have no idea exactly what the spindle follower on these is actually linked to (could be a cam, or have teeth), but I would guess if the follower was removed (drilled) and as much of the debris as possible removed through the hole. Then a good poke around with a bit of thick piano wire bent to an 'L shape' may have done something, but would probably need a load of leverage, as some of the purpose-made levers barely offer enough! One thing I've learned in this Profession, and that's very little is certain. I believe shlegels have teeth linked to the follower that engage with appropriate little slots running one above the other on the sliding up and down strip. So yes I think a bent wire/screwdriver might be able to locate in one of those holes to pull/push the slider. All we need now is the best place to drill a hole to access them! I have one on the way and will photograph the innards for all to see. Also have to remember that the foot print of the schlegel handle is quite small and doesn't offer much space to drill and conceal the hole.
The bolts extend above and below the footprint. The doors i have seen do not have beads they have a u gasket and the door styles are one part you have to remove the screws and hammer off the style to reglaze. Key wind mechanism opening could anyone help or advise me? I had a call out on a upvc lock out, keys on the inside. Got there locksmith Southfields and it was a gege cylinder and a lever configuration and dead locked. Don’t know how this happened as the keys were on the back of the door and the owner said they dead locked it? Any way I picked the cylinder and tried to pick up the cam for about 45 minutes with no luck then it accrued to me it may be a key wind mechanism. So I had to go over the neighbour’s fence and got them in through the back. What I would like to know is can you pick open a door with a key wind mechanism? The plug set itself 4 times and became very frustrating if there was no back door it would of been a spreader job.
I see these a lot, in fact I'm replacing a failed one tomorrow but of course it's hard to tell what it is until it's open, or the customer is there to ask if it's a winder or not. Best thing if they say it is, is to just plug-spin it a few times. Wonder how on earth it deadlocked itself. Wondering if it was just held on the latch somehow and the outside lever wasn't connected to the spindle, they slip sometimes if cut too short. Would plug spinning still work if the keys were in the back? Do you have to engage the cam first? I was as confused as scooby doo as to how it was dead locked it caught me right off guard you guys at the locksmith Southfields workshop. |
