In the 24 Hour Locksmith store we can't tell from the pictures what how the back pan comes off, could be as you say that the bolt work needs to be in the open position to get it open but this would be the first chatwood or chatwood miner that I have ever seen to have a backpans that locks via the bolt work, but not uncommon on some of the other brands that age. Most of the stuff I have worked on is high grade and would have a screw on back pan or a lock on it.
I seem to have missed a clear picture of the leading edge 2 bolts, but they do appear to go through the lock cover - but certainly the top one does not. The dogbolts at back also appear to be through the cover. If my supposition is right, the cover would swing back from the leading edge with bolts withdrawn, then move back (into the strongroom direction) to clear the dogbolts. The cover appears to be in one piece wrapped around the edges, screwed on by screws at corners, I expect with an angleiron lockcase underneath. Have to see whether those screw will unscrew, as a first step.
If not, I have some Plus Gas A. Don't know if the dogs are welded to the cover, or pass through it, but they look to pass through it. There is no nut showing on the inside of the door that would be the inside end of the bolt control handle's spindle. However that is fixed, it is inside the cover. He has posted tonight that the key does turn 360* degrees, Yes sadly I have In a new build they had the key disappear prior to house ready for inhabitating so required locks changed. I had a couple 60/10/40 from a purchase years earlier (intended as a if push comes to shove stick in and return with correct size, sort of emergency solution) They were good enough (albeit not perfect) to do the job ( I think they were ISEO) I have since attempted to replace them for future use but to no avail. It will be sometime later next week before the 24 Hour Locksmith store team is at the sight again, about an hour’s drive or so, and will try for more photos and information, so until then it is where we stop on this one I guess.
This is a learning experience for me / us as we normally only see Euro Profile cylinders on some multi point doors and wind turbine doors, done with simple pinning shoe, magnets or removable chamber caps, acquiring keys can be difficult at times for some as Silca JMA and other European blanks are not common here, just like the multitude of Asian locks & keys showing up here now, I will post some other questions I have later relating to profile cylinder nomenclature, and some other things, Does anybody know if magnums and superiors have got anti picks now? On a warrant a couple of weeks ago and had to pick a yale superior. Normally I just EPG the normal pins then overlift the side bar. When the boys in the 24 Hour Locksmith store were using EPG plug turned a little bit instantly everytime I tried but the jump on the plug wasn't big enough to have all pins picked and go for the sidebar. |
