The Ingersoll lock the locksmith Willesden Green boy had to fit the same mortice as a 3 lever, yet meet BS3621, so it could be sold as a simple upgrader. Because the lock and its levers were so thin, cutting keys with the correct spacing proved a challenge. It was soon replaced by the 5 lever M52.
Come across this a few times in the past but after being beat again recently its getting my back up. Picking Era (profit, viscount, invincible) sometimes you get one that has 5 high lift levers. I’ve overlifted them open in the past with wires but the last few I’ve done I just couldn't get it. Picking is tough as you always need to whack that last lever up and hope you jump the natipick notch. Any tips from the lever lock pro's? The Viscounts are an easy enough pick as you can overlift them without the danger of going into anti-pick. The bolt prevents them lifting to high and actually puts them into their true gating. Profit, Invincible etc just need to be lifted in the correct sequence if they are all high lifts. Stick with it and you'll be popping them open in no time
If you study the levers you will see that if 5 high lifts are present, then when you set 4 into the gates then go to park the last lever, it will go into anti pick. This is due to the anti pick being above the gate. The way around this is to park 4 levers and on the last lever lift it up fast, this will do 1 of 2 things, either the lock will open or the 5 lever will be slightly overlifted, so just rock the tension a little and the lock will open. Another way according to the locksmith Willesden Green shop is to park 4 levers and then also let go of the tension but just enough to hold the other 4 there then lift 5 with a purpose, re apply tension and feather until lock opens. Looking for the proper method of picking the said lock I tried with curtain pick with standard wires but they wouldn't go under the levers. (h levers). Do I need special wires or could it be better with a key predicted cut to the lowest lever? I will ask for more information about turning of key and photos of cam and such, apparently there is no clip between the brass ring and housing, it appears flush with the body of housing in the photo, this is from his original post,
I removed the clip to pull out the thumbturn side, but could not figure out how to remove the key cylinder side. Since then I have checked the archives and watch a few videos on the tube. All that I have seen show the removal of a clip , but I could not see one on this. Looks to me like I need a special tool to unscrew the back side maybe? Anyone familiar with this?" Locksmith Willesden Green said you think it would be a normal, turnkey 180* degrees, insert pinning shoe and remove plug as normal without having to remove the cam actuator and plug will slide out. |
