Hey you guys at the locksmith Woodford workshop at one point I was thinking banging it with a rubber hammer or lay it on the side/180 deg if there is some loose components blocking? It is about (judging from the picture I saw)5 feet high and 1.5-2 feet wide.
All the older types like the one you described with the moving roses that I have worked on can be locked (deadlocked) or pushed shut with a latch all operating out of the one lock. Well good news about the safe, have just got a phone call where I`m told that the access to the keyway is possible again and that was thank to my out of the box solution. I told them to hammer the safe from different positions (standing, on the side etc.) with a heavy rubber mallet as my theory was an internal jamming. It did the trick. Whether good or bad it's always smart to test new locks out, i'd buy a few to play with if they're cheap. Surely the correct terminology is 'snap safe' or 'snap secure' all locks will snap, but the sacrificial point on the snap secure locks means when they snap the cam is not exposed to the burglar/lockie! Thus leaving the locked door secure.
Our understanding here in the locksmith Woodford shop is that Kale made the bog standard Roto cylinder and I found them as reliable as the GeGe cylinders. These were made to quite tight tolerances and good brass. Turkish if I'm not mistaken. If they're cheap probably worth a punt. I would also make sure you can get key blanks for them. Kale have been making copies of Yale(R) locks for years, somewhere in the east. Tho I have only seen padlocks myself. Can anyone give any pointers on how to pick open a BS Yale kite marked euro cylinder as I'm having a little trouble getting one open any tips would be a great help. If you go to the cylinder lock section there's a post on there and a video showing one being picked open might be of help to you. They're not easy; I think people have most success with pick gunning them. You’re not wrong there I think lots of practice is needed with these ones but at the moment the gun it is. How much are those bits mate? I really got to give these a go.
Do they chew the stainless and hard pins up easily too? About 14 quid for a set of 5 from amazon I go for the 6mm ones they also do them for wood so make sure you get the right ones. Sold by micro trader can’t find the link for it 5 pieces tungsten carbide burrs 6mm x 8mm head. You can drill through pins too across shear line - and through the screw fixing along bottom to take out the pin that holds the cam in place. Takes a couple of minutes tops. I use them for the more secure locks and go above the shear line, but starting off I go into the middle of the keyhole then mill down to the shear line this way I’m not drilling through a hardened plug the keyhole becomes the weakest point and there’s not much the lock manufacturers can do to defend this type of attack.
