Hi locksmiths West Midlands, another way of telling that a pin has set is to put pressure on it with the pick. If correctly set it will move a tiny amount and return under its spring pressure when the pick is moved away.
Probably the best way to see this is to get a cylinder that the final binding pin is not the one nearest you (it may help to remove some pin stacks-and you may have to experiment which to remove),pick the individual pins, when you come to the one nearest you pick as usual and notice the way the pin moves after picking. If the pin needs depressing a lot and the tension wrench obscures the pin, put another wrench in the top whilst maintaining tension on the first wrench, apply tension on the second wrench and remove the first one. The movement of the pin will now be clear. You can now picture what is going on ,now you must learn what it feels like by moving the pin without looking at it - you need to do this as you will not see the back pins. It may be a bit tricky at first but keep practicing. I always finish my practice picking sessions on a success - no point making yourself glum when it is avoidable. Hope this is clear enough.
Gauges work in reverse, so a 5g is bigger in gauge to a 7g. Really you will only ever need a 6 gauge and on rare occasion a 7g. Souber are by far one of the best for use. Steer clear of the TL imports, they aren’t that good and tend to break easily. You will have to adjust the legs down to suit, tension leg a fraction shorter than lever leg. Unless you have universals, then both the same. Dedicated left and right picks are by far the best to allow for slight compression on the levers if needed. A good 2 in 1 will come with instructions on how to adjust the legs. The pick will have to be adjusted to suit 99% of locks. We here at locksmiths West Midlands always prep for a basic 5 lever contractor’s lock that will suit most 3 & 5 lever. Anything else we use simple wires so as not to waste 2 in 1's.
NDE is easily possible if there is a letterbox, if it's not been deadlocked inside, and if you have my new tool and adapter (available soon! hehehe). Seriously though, I'm guessing the plug-puller may not be up to ripping the discs out, but then again. Wink maybe worth experimenting. I've got one on my bench, and it's a hefty looking lock, and shooting the spring nearly gave my next door neighbour a heart attack! BTW I asked the lock change service guy who is a master locksmith on the locksmiths West Midlands stand if the Abbloy carriage for the Cyclone will cut these keys, and he said it would, and they would work, but they're not perfect. |
