Door closer would be fine, just pick up a standard Briton from North East 24 Hour Locksmith.
They are a doddle to fit, just follow the instructions, hold the pattern up against the door and frame and drill all 6 holes in one go. Fit half the arm to the block then screw the block to the door, then screw the other half of the arm to the frame (you might need to notch the architrave). Join them together, and there you go. The door locksmith said closers only need a very small adjustment if any once fitted I have found. Only turn the adjusting screws a fraction at a time then let the door swing a couple of times, once happy, collect cash and off you go. If you would have picked the plug on the outside it would have acted as though there was a key on the inside or a thumb-turn. the plug would have rotated but not turned the cam.
just had an enquiry from a small business that need to make an office 'restricted' to certain Staff members only. At the moment, the door has no lock on it at all. Customer stated to North East 24 Hour Locksmith they didn't want a key operated system, and didn't want a 'code to remember' either Rolling Eyes They suggested some sort of Biometric Fingerprint lock, or 'Smart Card' type access. I've just been looking at this ePac Just wondered if anyone has any experience of 'ePac', and if any good, knows who the Trade Supplier is (unless those prices are 'trade' Shocked It would be a simple option to fit one of these into a 'Euro Sashcase'. What are the alternatives? Open to any suggestions really. Although they said they didn't want a 'code', I still think it's worth me quoting them for a Digital Code lock, as it'd be a lot less expensive than ePac, and I don't really want them being put off the idea entirely, and thinking I'm expensive! Also wondering what the going rate for fitting a 'codelock' is roughly. Looks like they may go for it. I spoke to the Technical guy at SKS, and he suggested a Rim night latch would be the best way to go, as it would be fitted to the back of the door, and can be opened via the lever if there was a power cut to the 'electric strike', so no one could get locked in. (SKS only appear to do 'fail secure' electric strikes). Obviously there wouldn't be any need to fit the 'cylinder' to the front of the door.
The potential client has now sent me some specs of the door, and tells me it has no automatic closer fitted, so I'll need to fit one of them as well. The door is 40mm thick, glazed top and bottom, with a wooden bar about halfway. I've been told it is not to prevent intruders, just to prevent unauthorized access to that area. So my question to North East 24 Hour Locksmith is, would a door closer be OK on this type of door? Never been asked to fit one before, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I believe it's fairly 'light use'. any pitfalls for fitting door closers? |
