Yeah right in the open gap as Peckham locksmith said opposed to the gate/stump I’ve tried to find where to get hold of the angliss cards, google etc. and cannot find out where to get them from. Any clues?
Came up against a new Yale BS sashlock yesterday, first id seen and needless to say ended up with a hole in it. Am I right in thinking these levers are in fact the same as the strongbolt and fortress? Going to have to invest in a decoder if everyone is using the same setup and save myself the hassle. Same as the Union strong bolt, not the same as the Era Fortress. But the Fortress decoders will open the strongbolt and the Yale but you will need to make new charts. Ah, always assumed they were the same as people have mentioned the decoding of both with same tool. Yes the tool will do them all but the readings are slightly different from the fortress. Still five degree increments so easy to work out. And if you're drilling I think it’s the same measurements as the fortress. Just wanted to post a follow-up about my SV Union Decoder. At the last meeting my pins appeared to be odd lengths compared to loki etc. and we were struggling to get anything open with it. I contacted SV about this, returned the set of pins, and received a replacement set and a note from SV saying that second row of pins had been replaced for me. Much appreciated SV. Very Happy.
We talked about the lengths of the pins for this decoder, and I said I'd put some measurements on the forum. I've got a feeling some of the number three pins are a bit long, as anything with a number three lever in, so far won’t open. Sometimes it really grinds the bottoms of the number 3 levers. According to the chart that comes with the decoder, the heights are:- Lever 1 15.6mm Lever 2 14.4mm Lever 3 13.3mm Lever 4 12.0mm Lever 5 10.9mm Lever 6 9.5mm Lever 7 8.5mm On Peckham locksmith shop suggestion, I've loaded each set of pins into the Make-up key, and measuring from the underside of the stem, to the top of the pin, my measurements are as follows I expect a bit of variance between pins that are nominally the same height:-
Lever 1 range 15.36mm - 15.63mm Lever 2 range 14.17mm - 14.40mm Lever 3 range 13.42mm - 13.84mm Lever 4 range 12.00mm - 12.19mm Lever 5 range 10.62mm - 10.85mm Lever 6 range 9.36mm - 9.51mm Lever 7 - Key height. I may have been using the Number 3 pin that's 13.84mm, so am now going to try a lock I have here with some of the slightly shorter number 3 pins in. The lock is 3 2 3 5 3. Thanks for the photo you guys at the Peckham locksmith. I'd read that as 1 3 1 4 1. Though the short mark looks a lot like the 2 mark, in the photo that comes with the decoder. Maybe slightly longer, so I'd say a 3. |
